Figured I might as well explain why I wanted a website. I've wanted one for a while for several reasons, reasons I'm sure you've heard echoed elsewhere before:
- For a long time I've wanted somewhere besides social media to put my thoughts down, somewhere solid, somewhere I had control of the medium, the message, even some of the context. Somewhere I could lay thoughts and feelings out with clarity and find them again later, without worrying too much about it being deleted either.
- I also wanted a centralised place for other writing and art projects, be it poetry, tutorials or anything else I think "Wow, it would be great if I could have X or be able to point to Y in a place I knew wasn't going to go away." This being Neocities, it doesn't quite fill that role, but it's a stepping stone to where I want to go.
- Lastly, I wanted a place to host other projects of mine online- most of this is going to come after I move off neocities and start administering a server and everything I want on it myself.
That's why this is called Destroy After- it's a reminder to me and to you that this is a temporary space, a foundation for better things in the future, a place I will personally destroy when that time comes.
Thank you for reading my blog post. -cantinto
